Actually there are many Snipping Tool alternative on Mac, such as the built-in Grab for Mac, it can be used to take screenshots on Mac, but it can automatically save screenshot in TIFF format. You need to use the 'Preview' app to change the format.
Usually opening Snipping tool is just a search away in Start Menu of Windows 8 or 10. But in new laptops/notebooks with SSD where Windows 10 indexing service is disabled by default, searching Snipping tool doesn’t come out with appropriate result. The Snipping tool on windows is very lightweight, Easy to use, Mark inside the picture using Pencil, Highlighter or Use Erase to erase extra work. Also, send mail in compose. Open the START ORB and enter SNIPPING, does it show?
If not, did you disable anything? It is part of the TABLET PC COMPONENT. See if that is off, CONTROL PANEL, PROGRAMS AND FEATURES, and then TURN WINDOWS FEATURES ON AND OFF, is that checked?

Irv, in Windows 7 it is not linked to tablet PC - only in Vista.
In Windows 7 it is located at %windir%system32SnippingTool.exe. My %windir% is C:windows. Perhaps a search if yours is not there.
I tried the 'Jing' thing and it works good. I like it. Thanks. I am tired of messing with the Windows Snipping Tool.

Jing does the job but I wonder why the windows snipping tool does not work, I use it all the time.
However, if you have Trusteer Rapport installed in your browser (online banking protection) you may have a problem, which means you may have to disable ST when a financial page is open.
Trusteer Rapport disables ST when a hidden tab is detected.

Owen, the topic was solved in this case for the snip problem, my reply above was try to solve the Windows snip problem which should not exist.
